My painting is a celebration of wildernesses and often contains references to the mysterious signs and marks made by our early ancestors who had a relationship with the natural world that we have lost.

Repeated engagements with the resistant quality of paint brings about a transformation of the motif which can never be preconceived, and if the work goes well, is always a surprise and is sometimes magical.
