The first images show a selection of work from the touring exhibition “First Language/Iaith Gyntaf” which was shown first at the National Library of Wales in the Summer of 2006.
These works incorporate digital imaging from the collections of the National Library of Wales printed and painted on vinyl.
Collaboration with Tom Piper and the V6 group of artists in Cardiff gave access to the digital technology.
The exhibition explores the theme of identity by focusing on Celtic languages, notably Welsh and its sister languages of Breton, Cornish, Irish and Scottish Gaelic. Although Mary is most famous for her oils on canvas, this theme has allowed her to experiment with mixed media and digital printmaking techniques, incorporating text from famous Welsh and Celtic literature.
